The Rise of Anarkali Kurtas

The Rise of Anarkali Kurtas

The Anarkali Salwar Suit gets its name from a royal courtesan at the court of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. She was buried alive by the emperor for having fallen in love with Prince Salim, who later became Emperor Jahangir.

Anarkali literally stands for "Pomegranate Blossom." A pomegranate is a tropical fruit found in India and the Mediterranean belt. Its flowers are bright orange-red in colour.

The Mughal Courtesans had mastered the famous dance form known as "Mujra" which was performed in the royal court to entertain the Kings and Queens. The long, flowing dresses worn by the dancers later came to be known as Anarkali Salwar Kameez, in remembrance of the great beauty-Anarkali.

Before being transformed into a high-end fashion attire, the Anarkali Style Salwar Suit was worn by the women of North India, Pakistan, and The Middle East for special occasions, wedding and religious occasions, and were richly embellished with stones, beads, zari and threadwork, and sometimes, sequins.

The Anarkali is one outfit that flatters every figure. It accentuates the top part of the body and hides the waist and hips. The Modern Anarkali Dress is also known as the "Empire waist".

The Designer Anarkali Suits we see today are a modern version of the classic Anarkali churidar that was worn by the beautiful courtesans of the Mughal era. The classic Anarkali churidar consisted of a flowing frock-style top or kameez and a slim fitted bottom or churidar along with a long matching shawl or dupatta.

There have been many innovations in this particular style over the years in our fashion industry. Many different types of Anarkali suits have become popular, such as A-line, frock style, asymmetric, floor length, jacket style, multi-layer and Pakistani style anarkali suits. These are made using a whole variety of fabrics such as the everyday wear cottons and rayons to your more expensive silks and georgettes. So that there is something for everyone.

Anarkali Style Suits have become a favorite ensemble for women of all ages and body types. Curvy women with a well-endowed figure look good in A-line anarkali suits, while women with a petite frame look attractive in frock style anarkali with plenty of frills.

Our pure cotton anarkalis in neutrals and bright colour are all the trending rage this spring. The meticulous craftmanship of our creations is best appreciated upon wearing and use, so what are you waiting for? Order yours today!
